Rella's Kinderklassen: Sing, dance and read with us in German

Rella's Spielhaus offers a premier German Music and Stories program in the Tri-State Area with different formats of classes for children:

Rella's Kinderklassen (former Lieder & Geschichten) was developed by Swiss born Barbara Rellstab in 2011. As a former singer/dancer/actor, she was looking for a fun German story time and music class for her then 2-year old.  As she could not find anything in Manhattan, she decided to start developing her own classes for the German Language Community in New York.

  • Rella's Spielhaus currently offers 7 weekly online and in person German Kinderklassen in Manhattan. The program is designed to expose children to the German language and culture using picture books, songs, acrobatics, dancing, instruments, “Kniereiter”. Starting at the Midi level, the children will get exposed to reading and writing and we will incorporate literacy playfully in our programs.

  • In person: Samstagsschule for kids 3-12yrs: 10:30-1:30pm at Rella’s Spielhaus (50 West 97th Street).

  • In person: Mini Saturday Kinderklasse: 45 minute class from 9:30-10:15am with caregiver(s) for infants and toddlers 0-2years at Rella’s Spielhaus (50 West 97th Street).

We encourage both child and parent to (re)-enter the world of word, music and movement within the German language and culture. The various classes hope to serve as inspiration to be continued at home and the program already has created dozens of friendships that will last a life time.
